Navegante
was contracted by a private company to develop a feasibility study
pertaining to the development of an area of the Fort Amador Peninsula
Islands, Panama as a resort destination. The Navegante Group
traveled to Panama to gather all relevant information required
to develop the identified location into a resort, casino destination.
Navegante
presented to the client, a detailed report containing financial
assumptions, customer demographics, review of all competing businesses,
resort and casino development recommendations along with a multitude
of additional information and recommendations.
Navegante
recommended that the client move forward with the project due
to many facts. The gaming market in Panama is under utilized.
Our anecdotal impressions of multiple visits to the Caesar Park,
El Panama and Continental casinos indicate that there is low utilization
of the facilities by the premium visitors and by the wealthy residents
alike. We know through our marketing and operational experience
in the gaming centers in the United States that the wealthy individuals
from Central and South America have a high propensity to
gamble. This indicates that this lucrative segment of the gaming
market is choosing to gamble outside Panama even though they may
have multiple annual visits to Panama and for many other reasons.
